Once again, I found myself trying to come up with an interesting D&D character. As some of you may know, I like unusual characters that aren’t typical stereotypes. I like new and unique and dramatic things!
Therefore, I came up with Dafagne Gerveaux, the bugbear bard.
He has a simple backstory with lots of room for expansion; a rival stole his composition and Dafagne was wrongly shuned after accusing his rival. After vowing revenge against them, a goddess of drama bestowed him with arcane powers to fuel his revenge plot and exact an even more dramatic vengeance.
A thought I had was to make Dafagne a Warlock, therefore making the goddess also his literal patron, which I tought was very clever. Bard/Warlock is also a very good combination game-wise, because both classes use Charisma, and it makes his whole journey more dramatic in turn. Another thing I tried to do is name him with a name starting in D G, as I always try to do.
Ultimately, it is a shame that I probably won’t ever get to play as him, since I mostly end up DM’ing games, rather than playing in them, but one can always hope and dream and create, right?
